  15. chief of Time Inc.; after two years as U.S. Ambassador to
  16. Austria. A native of Vienna who fled the Nazi take over in 1938,
  17. Grunwald strengthened ties with friendly Austria while keeping
  18. President Kurt Waldheim at arm's length. The
  19. journalist-turned-envoy, wrote Vienna's daily Standard, will be
  20. missed "as the son whom we drove out and to whom we owe so
  21. much."
